I’m hoping people will be able to provide references to back up their statements. I don’t have celiac disease, however I am wheat/gluten sensitive in terms of digestion and overall well-being. Is there any added benefit for the fetus being wheat/gluten free?

Hi, I have put two references in that seem to tie in to what you are asking. The first one by Dr Lewey describes you and your situation on the gluten spectrum. He looks like he has done a fair amount of literature research as well as personal insight and ties the gluten free diet to a healthy life for more than the strictly defined celiac. The second article talks about outcomes in pregnancy but mostly in celiacs.

It seems to me that if you feel healthier on a gluten free diet that you should stay on that diet to feel better during pregnancy and hopefully avoid some of the negative outcomes of celiacs not following a strict diet.

(There are more articles under a search of gluten sensitivity and pregnancy)

Good luck and hope this helps!!
