As a certified personal trainer, I have seen so many fad diets come and go. It is truly laughable what some companies will push just to make a quick buck. With over a billion dollars a year spent on people trying to lose weight, there is no shortage of information on how lose weight.
The problem for most people is actually beginning a diet and sticking to it. Most diets get dull and boring or simply are not healthy to stay on for extended periods. Then, we bounce back up again. It is a vicious cycle.
How many different types of diets have you or a close friend tried? How many times have you said to yourself, “I am going to start exercising regularly now” and then 30 or 60 days later you on the sofa watching television? How many times have you done what it takes to lose some weight then fall back to your old routine?
Despite what the infomercials and mega-corporations tell us, losing weight isn’t as quick as they claim. These infomercials, and ads use slick marketing to persuade us into believing their claims that you can just pop a pill and lose 30 pounds in 2 weeks. But how many people do you know had this happen for them? The truth is that our bodies aren’t designed to lose that much weight rapidly in a healthy fashion.
How many times have you seen those ads and infomercials pitching you exercise videos or gym memberships? If you bought those videos, like me, you probably sweated your brains out doing those intense grueling workouts hoping to see the unwanted pounds and inches melt away. But it didn’t turn out the way you hoped, did it?
For over two decades, we have been lied to. We are force-fed to believe we can take a pill to quickly lose 30 pounds in 30 days. This is a fast-food society. We want it now and we do not want to pay the consequences. But, we are kidding ourselves. We can not have our cake and eat it too. Well, not that often anyway.
These corporations and infomercial reps pushing the quick pill know that if they told you what it really takes to lose weight and keep it off permanently, they would not be in business long. This being said, there is one diet that continues to improve and show results. The diet I speak of is The South Beach Diet.
The South Beach Diet is not low-fat or low-carb. It teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats. It teaches you how to eat healthy and not only change your looks, but change your way of life. It teaches you what we should learn in school and how to eat the right foods in moderation. You don not starve yourself and you do not have to sweat in the gym five times a week.
I am no longer taking on clients in the gym, but I do my best to stay in shape and eat right. If you have not checked out the South Beach Diet, I urge you to do so. It is a quick read and makes good sense for all of us, not just anyone in particular. Let us all get back into shape, and I do not mean round!

Is the world really "round"?
**Obviously, there will be those who set aside my question as something ludicrous. My intention is not that. I believe that in a democratic society we all have a right to express our opinions and discuss contemporary issues in a healthy and respectful way.**
Having said that, let’s get to the main idea. I have an argument, and I have its proof. The world is not round, as supposedly "common sense" claims. Most of you are probably laughing right now, but I have evidence to back such a theory.
The first to actually put in practice this idea was the Greek philosopher Aristotle. His argument was as follows; "When a ship sails into the horizon, it’s mast gradually moves away from view. If the Earth is really flat, it would simply go on, until its not visible". First off, there are MANY flaws in this ancient and now obsolete theory. Aristotle lived during ancient times and science had not advanced to any stage where we could simply propose a theory, and where it would be accepted as the status quo norm.
Now, aside from that, the only real "testing" (if you will) for such a theory were NASA photographs depicting the world’s shape as spherical or, in some cases, even elliptical. DO YOU KNOW WHO CONTROLS NASA? The American government. Needless to say, it could have all been a conspiracy devised to cover up for the large amount of missing persons recently within our society.
Most of you are probably sneering, but my theory deserves special attention. Where do you think the many people who are "missing" today are? Where is Osama bin Laden? Where is Adolf Hitler? Where are the countless innocent souls with their portraits on the milk cartons? The answer is both simple and disturbing: they’re pushed off the end of this flat Earth. Usually those are the ones who "know too much". Simply. Just like that. As if some spoon or fork could be pushed off some dining table, and then be regarded as "missing" after a few days.
This "spherical" Earth theory is either the most elaborate hoax or its a conspiracy devised by NASA, the NWO, and the CIA to both control and deceive us all. We all need to wake up.
No, the world is not round. It’s an oblate spheroid, i.e. it’s too thick at the middle to be a round sphere, but it’s close.

The spherical Earth idea isn’t just a theory, it is the truth and there are many ways you can prove it. We’ve definitely circumnavigated the Earth.
You can even prove it by carrying an inertial guidance system (gyroscope flywheel mounted on three-axis gimbals that functions as an ultimate compass), and as you make a journey of 1000 km on Earth’s surface, you should notice about a 10 degree shift in the direction of what gravity tells you down is, compared to the axis of the inertial guidance system. Take this inertial guidance system from England to the USA and you should notice a 90 degree shift in the direction of gravity.
The Earth isn’t a perfect sphere, but it is damn close. It is an oblate sphereoid roughly fitting the geoid reference of it bulging at the equator. The earth is about as close to a sphere as any manufactured billiard ball.
Whether it is a sphere or an oblate spheroid, it still is round. Any curvature entirely directed inward classifies a shape as "round".
Although, mountains and valleys are proof that Earth is not truly round, since there are peaks and divots some of which curve outward. However, mountains and valleys are insignificant in the grand scale of the Earth’s radius.

You can derive the Earth’s spherical shape from first principles, by minimizing potential energy. This requires no photography, nor does it rely on any information from any government agency. I suggest you do this calculation yourself.
2) Specific proof
I have personally worked on a vehicle which flew into space and took pictures of the Earth. The pictures clearly show that Earth is round. If you are claiming that I am part of a conspiracy, it must be an extremely subtle one, because it’s news to me.

Michael is correct. Due to the rotation of the earth it bulges a bit at the equator and is flattened a bit at both poles. It is simple physics. At a distance you can’t see this distortion but it is there and can be measured using highly accurate GPS sensors.

People have found evidence that the world is round since the mid 1500′s. That was before England even discovered the Americas, and even thought of colonizing there. The 1600′s was when people really started doing more sea traveling and were able to prove "the world is round" theories of the past. Magellan, for example, circumnavigated the world (technically he died partway through and the remaining crew carried on). Lies? He made it up? It’s a bit ironic that diaries were kept and you can pinpoint the EXACT locations they were at in their travels; we can trace all the places they went to. And, from leaving Europe going westward, they eventually came to Asia and back to Europe. You couldn’t do that if the world was flat.
Yes, people nowadays love to be in power, sometimes by making up lies. I find it hard to believe that NASA is falsely telling us that the world is round when the idea and proof has been around for several centuries longer than they have.
And yes, where are Osama bin Laden and Hitler? Bin Laden is likely in hiding in his country, or is dead and people are trying to say he’s still alive. Hitler was found dead near the end of World War II. He committed suicide after realizing that he would not win the war.
Here’s another theory: I cannot remember the exact placements, but I have read that several centuries ago, a scientist had visited Alexandria, Egypt doing research. He had found that at exactly noon, the sun shone directly down to the bottom of a well. He traveled several hundred miles north into Europe and did the same experiment. However, also at noon at a well, the sun did not shine directly into the well. Why? Because that far north causes you to be at an angle to the sun, and therefore, the sun is not directly overhead, like it is as latitudes closer to the equator. This could only be possible if you were on a round object. In other words, Earth is round. Take a baseball and put two push pins on it; one near the middle, and one at mid-latitude. Shine a light on it, directly at the middle. See the shadows? The middle pin barely casts one, where the upper one does. Same effect here on Earth.
Also, when people have been observing other planets, they are all clearly round. "No, they’re disks" you say. Well how do those disks keep changing their faces? In other words, how come that disk’s surface features keep changing to something else and then back to what we saw? It’s because they’re round and rotating. Earth isn’t some kind of flat thing sitting in space. There’s more than enough evidence outside of NASA, or even modern technology to prove that the Earth is round.
And I don’t see how saying that the Earth is round is a conspiracy theory for covering up the missing persons. The only pictures I see on milk cartons are cows, the company logo, and nutrition facts. If there was an edge of the Earth, we all would have known by now. If people could just be shoved off the edge, it would create so much chaos and people would just be dragging others there in an attempt to eliminate their opponents. If it is only the American government that has made up this theory, why aren’t other people from other countries disproving it and wronging us? Fear? I highly doubt it. Probably because they have found proof that NASA isn’t lying. In the past, people didn’t just accept new theories. The majority of the time, everyone thought that the person suggesting new theories was out of their mind. It took many years and many other people working on the theory to convince everyone that it was true, based on scientific evidence and facts.
You have a right to your freedom of speech. But so do I. Get the facts right. Do a little more research next time to be sure that you can disprove a theory, or even, an universally accepted truth. I would suggest doing your own circumnavigation or visit the North or South Poles. See what you find. An edge? Nope. Just continuous land and ocean masses bound here by gravity.

Logical thinking and conclusions based off the proven facts I know
I’m not sure if you’re being serious. If you are, try this:
Take a globe of the world and find some widely separated large cities on it, so that some are in darkness and others are in daylight. Look for live webcams from each of them, enough to form a fair sample of different times of the day, and note which are in light and which are dark. Wait a couple of hours and do the same. Keep doing this for about twelve hours. You will see the day and the night moving around the planet, and if you choose enough you will become aware of a circular puddle of light which moves around. The simplest explanation of this is that Earth is round.
But maybe you don’t trust that. In that case, find a website which is visited by people all over the world with whom you can communicate. Choose several people from North America, several from Europe, several from Australia and so on, until you’ve got a good sample of people all over the world. Ask them what the time is and if it’s day or night. Do this again with a different set of people twelve hours later. Once again you will find there is a distribution of that kind.
Perhaps that’s not convincing either. If it isn’t, find some major cities on a globe and find flights between them so that they form a closed "network" around the globe. Go to a site where you can find departure and arrival times for those flights and make notes of their numbers and the times they actually do arrive and depart. You will find there’s a discrepancy between east and west bound flights of course, but that’s due to the prevailing winds. Aside from that, you will find that the times taken, and to some extent the cost of the flights, will correspond to the distances in such a way that the only way it can be reconciled is to draw them on the surface of a sphere.
Don’t take my word for it. Actually do it if you doubt me – test it for yourself.
Now, if you still doubt it, that would mean that all the airlines, all the webcams and all the private individuals with whom you speak are in on this conspiracy.

LOL, why is everyone ridiculing you?! Although, I don’t agree with you 100%, this new "theory" sounds very plausible, and I see nothing wrong with it. Do you people even know what the NWO and NASA are up to? The only proof for a round world are through photos, which can easily be faked.
There are also many people who mysteriously dissapear and are called missing every year, so I like the connection you made. I would suggest that you actually propose this theory to a serious scientific organization, rather than on Yahoo Answers where people won’t appreciate your views.

Common Sense
There is no point me restating the "spherical world" evidence – that has already been done very fully in numerous other answers.
Any good scientist should always be open to new ideas, even if they go against established orthodoxy. The key things that a scientific theory needs are that it fits the available evidence, and it can make predictions that can be tested. New theories are only likely to overturn old theories if they are a better fit with the evidence, or explain an anomoly, or make more testable predictions, or are "simpler".
An example of the latter point is the Heliocentric view of the solar system, which, in the 16th century, did not really make better predictions than the well established Geocentric system using epicycles. But it was many times simpler, and when refined was clearly able to explain all the evidence much better than earlier theories.
Your theory may be correct, but the overwhelming weight of centuries of evidence points to the Earth being essentially spherical. If you can find a different explanation that accounts for all this evidence and is at least as simple then well done.
Btw, anyone with a half decent telescope can see with their own eyes that the Moon, Venus, Mars, maybe even Jupiter and Saturn are spherical. Why should the Earth be different?

For example, how THICK is the Flat Earth (I mean, how far down do you have to dig before you reach the other side ? .. and what (exactly) keeps in the AIR (I mean why does it not all fall off the edge ?) and all the water in the Oceans …
Also, how (exactly) does the flat Earth orbit the Sun – or what other process gives us Day & Night ??? and how does the Moon orbit the Earth (& gives us phases and eclipses) …plus what gives us tides (if not Gravity) & then there’s the seasons = Summer in northern parts whilst, simultaneously, winter in southern parts PLUS how do we get different views of the (again, N V’s S) Stars ??? (I know this is true = I have been to Australia when it was summer here, winter there and looked up in the sky at night)
