I have been on a strict weight loss program. I eat generally healthy and go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and about three times with a personal trainer.
However, soon I am planning on getting into birth control pills. I have been told that your hormones go crazy with the pills… Would this affect my weight loss? I know it reacts differently with each woman… but what are the possibilities?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Athena,
I can relate. I went on Depo Provera and I experienced weight loss which was cool because I didn’t want to have unnecessary weight gain while on my health regimen. I am sure it affects every woman differently though. Hope this helps

At my local gym, they have treadmills with different programs that you can select (manual, interval, performance, heart rate, weight loss, etc). How exactly does the weight loss program work? Is the goal of that to keep the heart rate in a certain zone all the time? Or does it work differently? Thanks in advance.
No it doesn’t work. Try "uphill" or "gluteal" or just crank up the incline. I think the eliptical works better. Do the "gluteal" workout and crank up the resistance. I lost 25 pounds doing this.
I’m 5’10" and way 190 lbs. I have started working out and a local gym and have signed up with a personal trainer, starting in a week. I have done Weight Watchers in the past, and think it is an awesome program, I am probably going to go back to doing that as well. I just want to hear from other people what they think really works. No quick fix fad diets please. I know I didn’t gain weight overnight and am not looking to lose overnight. I just want to do something that is healthy and long lasting (provided I stick with it). I really haven’t set a goal weight for myself, I just want a smaller butt, thighs, and tone the tummy.
cut the carbs
I recently lost a lot of weight. I do an hour of cardio a day and some wights for toning as instructed by a trainer at my gym. I also want to know how many days a week I should go. I am looking for something that will have great results since I am at a plateau for my weight loss.
The best thing I have found for toning is two day per week of Ashtanga Yoga and two days per week of pilates! Ashtanga, however is NOT for beginners, so make sure you take care if you do it. Another avenue for you could be Bikram, or "Hot Yoga". It’s a very active yoga done is a hot room.
I eat fairly healthy (am working on a diet plan) and when I go to the gym, I’m using the elliptical for 60 minutes (I make it a fairly steep grade, and have a good amount of resistance)
I’m looking to Lose Inches around the mid part of my body-upper thighs to lower stomach. Is there a better plan to doing that then what I’m doing currently?
Anything helps! Thank you!
Spin around like a 4yearold child.do around 50 to 100 the first few days work up to 200…dont spin all at one time…read my source…youll get results AND have fun:)So above, I described the correct way to spin around.
Clockwise… with your arms out like airplane wings.
Now, here’s how you should start out spinning.
Jennifer Jolan – Special Report – Spinning

DAY 1:
Begin with spinning around just 5 times. Faster is not
necessarily better… but your goal should be to spin around
on the faster side. 5 times is a base level to try. If you really
want to see the "real" effects of spinning, try 12-20.
However, if you want to do this properly, just trust me and do
5 spins on the first set.
Do them? Ok. How did it go?
What is your body telling you? Here is the goal… AND THIS
IS REALLY IMPORTANT, SO PLEASE REMEMBER THIS
EVERY TIME YOU SPIN.
You try to spin enough until you are SLIGHTLY DIZZY.
That is the goal. That is all you need to benefit from
spinning. Anything more and you may have problems such
as excess dizziness, which will make you feel NOT-SOGOOD
for the rest of the day.
Just do yourself a favor and trust me.
Take it easy and ease into it. Start with 5 spins and rest at
least 1 minute.
After that, you can do as many spins as you think it will take
to get SLIGHTLY dizzy. Nothing more… nothing less. Keep
repeating this until you’ve done between 50-100 total spins.
Remember, this is just day 1. Anyway, if you need a few
minutes between each set of spins, take a few minutes. If 5
spins didn’t do anything for you, do more.
Jennifer Jolan – Special Report – Spinning

How many? Use your good judgement and guess.
SLIGHTLY DIZZY, SLIGHTLY DIZZY, SLIGHTLY DIZZY!!!
REMEMBER THAT!
TIP: Watch TV, Lose Weight
When you watch tv, there are usually 20 minutes or so
of commercials during each hour of programming. A
good idea is to do your spinning during commercials.
You could easily get in 1-2 sets during each commercial
break and a minimum of 8 sets during 1 hour of tv. I
DON’T WANT ANY EXCUSES!!
So you start with 5 spins on your 1st set.
After that, use your own good judgement on how long to rest
and how many spins you should do for the next set. If you
got really dizzy with just 5 reps, then consider taking a long
rest and doing 3 spins the next time. Whatever you do, don’t
quit.
For almost every person who does this, their body usually
adjusts to the spins within 7-10 days… 14 days at the very
latest (if they had a hard time with extreme dizziness to
begin with).
Now, for people who like to jump in the deep end right
away… you’re more than welcome to just go ahead and spin
around 12-20 times on your first try. But I must warn you…
Jennifer Jolan – Special Report – Spinning
16
you may get really dizzy to the point of being nauseous and
sick. My fear with you doing that is you may quit the program
right away without giving it an honest chance if you are one
of the few who gets sick.
So you’ve been warned!!
Please use your common sense. Pay attention to how your
body reacts and adjust accordingly with either less or more
spins per set… slower or faster spins… more or less rest
between each set of spins.
Just remember the most important goal with spins… SPIN
TO THE POINT WHERE YOU GET SLIGHTLY DIZZY. By
paying attention to your reaction to spins, you’ll generally
know where you should be.
Just know this. You’re not in a race. This is something you
can and should do for the rest of your life… everyday. It’s
that important.
DAYS 2-5:
Gradually challenge your body more… with more spins per
set, more speed, and less rest between each set.
Each person is different so don’t get caught up with the
numbers. The only number that is important is the total # of
spins you do each day. Eventually you’ll want to build up to
at least 200 reps… But that may take a week or 2 for some.
THAT’S FINE. Nothing to worry about.
Jennifer Jolan – Special Report – Spinning

So try to get 200 total spins each day… by day 14 or so. If
you can do 200 spins on day 1, awesome!!!
However you go about this is fine, I just don’t want you to
quit during the 2 week time period. I am positive that if you
do the spins for 2 weeks, you will be so happy with the
results that you’ll do them for a long, long time.
HOW I SPIN EACH DAY:
My daily spin routine is simple. I usually spin 20 times for
each set and I try to do 20 sets… for a total of 400 spins
each day. That probably is on the excessive side, but I like
doing them. They make me feel awesome and help tone me
up.
I usually do 5 sets right when I wake up. After that, I just do
them whenever I get the chance… basically when I have
privacy and some room to spin. I get in a lot of spins during
tv commercials also.
So I aim for 20 sets, but I really don’t know how many I do.
I’ve turned them into a habit, so I don’t need to think about it.
I just do them when I get a chance. This
I don’t have any equipment and cant really afford any so its got to be some basic exercises like running or things i don’t know of.
Also being 14 i do not buy my own food so what is a good healthy diet that i can just mention to my mom to get?
I would like to lose weight.
Well, I am not a doctor, but what I know about doctors is that they don’t study much about exercise specifically or nutrition. They primarily study diseases, ailments, medicine, etc. so I wouldn’t particularly ask them to draw out an exercise program. Don’t mistake me though, if your doctor suggests something, or tells you not to eat something or to not do a particular exercise, they most likely have a good reason for saying it.
That said, I disagree with the South Beach Diet and Weight Watchers. They aren’t founded on sound information…. I have my Masters in Exercise Physiology and studied this directly for over 10 years.
I would suggest eating natural, low fat foods. By natural, I mean, whole grain foods, not processed bleached white bread or plain pasta. Eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. For protein, eat chicken, and if you get hamburger, get hamburger that is 97% lean not the 80/20 (meaning 20% fat). I also like turkey and tuna, just make sure that it is low fat. Once you cut the fat down, it is easy to keep the calories down. Contrary to popular belief, carbohydrates are good for you….just not from pop or candy bars. If you cannot stand wheat bread, try Oat Nut… it is pretty good and even my third grade nephew likes it.
As for exercise, if you cannot go to the gym, go jogging, cycling, hiking, etc. Weight training will be a little difficult, but you can do pushups and situps for starters.
Hope this helps.
I am 31 years old. I have two kids and have gained excessive weight after both of them. I had a cessarian with the first and natural with the second. I’m pear shaped so it’s mostly in my hips and buttocks. I have a desk job so I sit a lot and I’m always too tired feeling to work out at night. I’ve been on every diet under the sun to only gain it all back. I’ve tried numerous excersises also. Over the counter weight loss pills or energy pills give me a racing heart. When I do loose weight I get the saggy belly that hangs between the legs when I sit and bend so how would I be able to find out how would be the best way to loose weight effectivly for myself and my body type and keep the sagging away. Please help.
ok, first….stay away from the ‘diet pills’ — they are ALL CRAP, EVERY ONE OF THEM.
they all say, ‘use with ANY sensible diet and exercise program’…and the reason for this is that it is the sensible diet and exercise programs that are responsible for the weight loss, not the stupid pills.
as for sensible diet part — and i’m not being funny here (it’s what works) stop eating so much. most of us have 2 double whoppers with cheese, or super size our meals etc. Just stop eating as much — 2 hot dogs instead of four, 1 whopper instead of 2, reduce calories gradually but noticeable. After a week or so, start throwing in the baked potato or salad instead of fries etc.
Just start eating less and less, then start eating healthier. Find good healthy things you can eat a lot of. And don’t worry about the ‘fat pig’ comments or looks — don’t do it because of that, do it for your other reasons — your life — you’re only 31 and have to live long and healthy to take care of your kids.
Work in the exercise program in whatever form you can — walk more (stairs instead of elevators, park a little further away and work), take walks with kids, pets, start doing floor exercises, plays sports with kids etc. You don’t have to join a gym or do 5 hrs of fitness a day — just more than you are now.
GOOD LUCK — eat less, eat healthy, start exercising, and exercise more.
I’ve decided to lose about 50 lbs by the time the summer is over and so far I’m making great progress. I started my diet a little over a month ago and have already lost 14 lbs. I joined the gym. I go at least 4 times a week. Usually every day though unless another plan interrupts my schedule. I am watching what I eat. I have cut my calories significantly and even started keeping a food diary, in which i also keep track of my exercise. I bought a pedometer and count me steps, basically I’ve improved my way tremendously since the year started. My question now is in regards to those infamous "weight loss pills". I would like to add something to increase my energy, boost my metabolism, and just speed up the process. I am kind of in a hurry because I am planning a vacation and would like to possibly complete this before my initial plan. But how can you trust anything out there, really? Has anyone taken anything that they were satisfied with? Or does anybody have any tips in general?
I tried the Slimquick, I even tried TrimSpa, but stopped taking them soon after. Trimspa still sits in my closet i took like 4 of them. Slimquick i used a whole bottle of, bought another one, went through half and then stopped because i wasn’t sure if they would interact with medications that i started taking at the time. I can say i was pretty satisfied with the results slimquick gave me. Still I would like to see what other options I have. The cost is also a concern, simply because I’m not rich and can’t afford to spend $100/month on weight loss pills. A friend of mine [body builder] swears by Hydroxycut. But not many other people I talked to recommended it, so any suggestions?
DO NOT TAKE DIET PILLS! They are dangerous!!
Last year I was visiting my parents and took diet pills on top on my exercise routine and normal diet. I was 26 at the time, 5’11, 180 lbs. By week three I was sick. I had diarrhea, dry heaves, dizziness, headaches, and a general feeling of being sick. I thought I had caught the flu or something. I had lost 13 lbs in 4 days. One morning I told my mom I didn’t feel good. My vision kept blacking out and I felt (for lack of a better way to say it) stoned. Later that afternoon I was walking from the bathroom to my bedroom (a 5 foot walk) and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital emergency where they did a bunch of tests on me.
My pulse was up to 120, My blood pressure was 150/40, they had to start me on an IV, the did an EKG on me, took blood and urine samples, and a whole barrage of other tests.
They finally got me stabilized and said that I was dehydrated and malnutritioned. I told him that I took diet pills. When I mentioned diet pill, the doctors face lit up and said that’s why. He said they can cause a whole bunch of health problems, including death. He told me to toss the diet pills or next time I might not be so lucky.
I was kept in the hospital for almost 10 hours, given 3 or 4 IVs, potassium, juices, and monitored (by the EKG, blood pressure, and heart rate machines) every 15 minutes.
Please take my story as a warning. If you seriously want to loose weight there are better ways (I know because I’ve lost weight after this)
The quickest way is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohol, and sodas.
Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up.
In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight)
Practice portion control. Yes, you’ll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won’t have that feeling anymore.
Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.)
Go exercise for at least an hour a day, incorporating weight training. Weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat. You get the idea. It also gives tone and definition. Also do a few yoga and pilates exercises to help tone those hard to reach and stubborn areas.
I am currently going to the gym and eating right, so I can lose a 100+lbs. I am wondering what the best weight loss supplement would be for me. I am working out every day. I weigh 309lbs and badly need to drop it. And feel that 1 lb a week is going to take forever. Thank you for you help.

Combining the Acai,Cleanse and Rezveratrol program to get the best result
Best Wishes,
I am trying to losse weight and i can’t seem to find a good diet and work out program. walk me dog daily and i have cut out all junk food. So any hints.
The best way to lose weight and to keep it off you is a complete lifestyle change and you will need to be committed to it.
Fad diets and diet pills will waste your time and money and will lead you back to where you started.
Changing your habits to more healthier ones is the best way to lose weight and keep it off.
The body loses about 2 pounds a week optimally and thats 2 pounds that stay off. When you drop at a faster rate your body could potentially rebound and either plateau your weight loss or put extra weight on. If you are committed then you should reach your goal.
This bit of advice is something I tell anyone who asks whether you are my client or not.
There are 5 most important things that must go together in any workout program. These are part of changing your complete lifestyle to one that is healthier. They also help you to naturally optimize your metabolism. The faster your metabolism the better your body uses your food for energy, instead of storing it as fat.
I put them in the order of importance.
1. Eat more. Yes eat more. More meals that is. It is best to eat a small meal every 3-4 hours. The meal should be just large enough to where you are not hungry, as opposed to eating you are full. There is a difference. Eating 1 or 2 meals a day slows your metabolism down. You should have at least 4-6 meals a day.
2. Drink more water. Most of us dont have enough water. This means our bodies are dehydrated. Two things a dehydrated body has trouble doing, one is releasing water. In order to lose fat you must be able to release water, because fat cells in your body are composed of mostly water. A dehydrated body cannot build very well. Muscle tone indicates a constant building state in your body. If your body isnt building that means it is losing muscle and its never good to lose muscle that slows your metabolism and makes you look flabby.
3. Maintain a balanced workout regimen of cardio and resistance (weights). Cardio is good for fat burning and its easy to do and to progress yourself. Resistance is a little harder because its not as easy to know what to do. If weights arent your thing then try Yoga or Pilates. Both are very effective resitance and core training and can help you maintain lean muscle and increase your overall metabolism.
4. Smart supplementation of your diet is your best solution to making sure you get the nutrients your food doesnt give you. Plus cleanses, as well as detox formulas are awesome for eliminating toxins we take into our bodies without knowing.
5. Sleep is a very important part of any healthy lifestyle regimen. When we sleep our bodies and minds refresh themselves and allow us to function at an optimal level. Sleeping allows muscles to rebuild themselves and when they do that, it speeds your metabolism.
You may ask why I gave you this long list instead of just telling you what exercises to do. The reason is if you think that exercising is all you need then you are mislead. If exercising is all we needed to look and feel great then everybody who works out at the gym would have great bodies and be healthy. Its not true. If it was then what I do would be not necessary and there would be a gym on every street corner.
